My name is Jack, I am a newly qualified Physician Associate, having recently passed the physician associate national examinations in February allowing me to be employed by Eastleigh Southern Parishes Network. Physician associates are a relatively new healthcare professional, under the banner of “Medical Associate Professionals”. While we are not doctors, we are clinically trained and work as part of a multidisciplinary team under the supervision of a named senior doctor in the primary care network. In my role I will be working across Blackthorn Health Centre and Hedge End medical centre, supporting the doctors and the rest of the team in the diagnosis and management of patients, assisting wherever I can. This is my first employment as a physician associate, having previously worked in the varied fields of chemistry, conservation and farming in my working life so far. I am looking forward to helping develop this new role to be an asset the practices.
