Sarah
Gender: Female
My name is Sarah, I am an advanced nurse practitioner and education lead for ESP Network Ltd. I started my nurse training in 1986 and after qualifying worked as a staff nurse on the cardio thoracic unit at UHS. I moved to primary care as a practice nurse in 1993 and realised community was the area I wanted to be. I completed the asthma and COPD diplomas and have specialised in respiratory ever since. After having my family, I started my journey towards advanced practice, initially completing the independent prescribing course soon followed by achieving a first-class hon at Bournemouth university in advanced practice.
In 2018 I was invited to undertake a pilot study to evidence my prior learning to master’s level and have since been awarded the Digital Badge via NHSEs Centre for Advanced Practice. My time is divided between clinical work, on the day patient presentation, management, complex respiratory cases, and education lead supporting majority clinical, multi-professional roles with learning and training needs. I am currently undertaking the interprofessional, education and leadership fellowship programme via NHSE, part of which is a PgCert in strategic, leadership and multi-professional education in healthcare which I have recently passed.
I am now planning a quality improvement project to develop a learning environment for our PCN and hope to create a culture of restorative reflective practice for all staff who contribute to the successful functioning within primary care to improve well-being, resilience which I believe will ultimately improve quality care for our patients.
